The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale Predictions

Here is another addition of MMA predictions featuring The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale,  which is being held on the 1st June at the Palms Casino Resort in Paradise, Nevada, United States. The headlining fight is a welterweight match up, which will more then likely get them a title shot with the winner of  the GSP vs Conduit fight, between highly regarded Jake ‘The Juggernaut’  Ellenberger and UFC veteran Martin Kampmann.

Jonathan Brookins(13–4) vs  Charles Oliveira(15–2 (1))

A featherweight match up between TUF 12 winner Jonathan Brookins and former lightweight and young prospect Charles Oliveria. Brookins is entering this fight with a first round KO of submission specialist Vagner Rocha at UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger and also won Knockout of the Night. Oliveria is coming into this fight with a first round Submission of the Night victory over Eric Wisely at UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis, which was his featherweight debut. In this fight Oliveria has a huge advantage on the mat while Brookins is a purple belt and maybe able to hold off for a while against the black belt Oliveria, there is still a massive skill gap between the two fighters when it comes to BJJ. Brookins will be looking to use his boxing to put a pace on Oliveria and outwork the Brazilian while using defensive wrestling to keep the fight on the feet. Charles Oliveira will be looking to use his footwork to strike up close then grab a hold of Brookins and get him to the floor with a take down or by pulling guard and look to use his long limbs to secure a submission.

Winner: Charles Oliveira, Submission – Round 2.

Max Holloway(4–1) vs  Pat Schilling(5–1)

A featherweight bout between young prospects Max Holloway and Pat Schilling. Holloway is entering this fight after his first MMA career loss to top contender Dustin Poirier via submission in the first round at UFC 143. Pat Schilling is also coming into this fight after his first professional loss to Daniel Pineda at UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller by submission. I can see Schilling using his grappling experience in wrestling and judo to get this fight to the ground and work for TKO victory by ground and pound or if given to him a submission.

Winner: Pat Schilling, TKO – Round 2.

Mike Chiesa(7-0) vs  Al Iaquinta(5-1-1)

A lightweight match up to crown the new Ultimate Fighter winner of the first ever TUF:Live season on FX, between wrestler Mike Chiesa and heavy-handed Al Iaquinta. Mike Chiesa is currently undefeated and has finished his last 4 fights by submission. During his time in the TUF house he smothered Jeremy Larsen, beat Team Cruz’s top pick Justin Lawrence and then beat highly touted James Vick to gain a place in the TUF: Live Final. Al Iaquinta’s last professional fight was a submission loss to former UFC fighter Pat Audinwood but previously was undefeated in his first 6 fights, (5 wins 1 draw). During his time in the TUF house he beat highly regarded Mike Jury, knocked out Andy Ogle viciously and out worked Vinc Pichel  to gain a place in the TUF: Live Final. This fight is a typical striker vs grappler match up with Al Iaquinta trying to look to use his speed and footwork to stop Chiesa from grabbing a hold of him and pick the taller fighter apart on the feet. While Chiesa will be looking to get this fight to the floor rough up Iaquinta  with some ground and pound then securing a submission or a TKO finish. Chiesa has shown true heart throughout the whole of this competition being dropped many times then coming back from behind and pulling out a win. Al Iaquinta after his Jury fight has shown true dominance in the cage with his technical striking and power that KO’ed Andy Ogle and a decision win over Vinc Pichel. I can see Al Iaquinta dropping Chiesa in the first round but then Chiesa displaying his heart once more and grinding out a decision with superior wrestling and top control.

Winner: Mike Chiesa, Decision – Round 3.

Jake Ellenberger(27–5) vs  Martin Kampmann(19–5)

A huge fight in the welterweight division, with the winner more than likely in line for a title shot after the GSP and Conduit fight, between highly regarded Jake ‘The Juggernaut’  Ellenberger and UFC veteran Martin Kampmann. Ellenberger is coming into this fight on a 6 fight win streak with wins over former contenders such as Diego Sanchez and Jake Shields. Ellenberger’s last fight was against Diego Sanchez which we won by decision in a very entertaining fight which was Fight of the Night at UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger. Kampmann is entering this fight with a come from behind last mintue submission victory over former contender Thiago Alves at UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann, which was won him the Submission of the Night award.  This is a very fascinating  fight depending on game plans. Kampmann is known to technically start well but as the fight goes on and gets hit it turns into a slugfest (e.g. Sanchez). Also Kampmann has had the tendency to not being able to handle bigger power punchers such as Daley but showed improvement with this issue against Rick Story. Ellenberger fits the bill for being a power punch and will probably look to bull rush Kampmann at the beginning and look for the early knock-out as per most of his fights. Although Ellenberger has shown signs similar to Kampmann to fade the longer the fight goes on and with this being a 5 round fight I can see there being a slight edge to Kampmann in the later rounds. I feel like Ellenbergers power and speed will be the difference here and has more tools in the striking and wrestling department to mix it up and keep Kampmann guessing and winning the fight by TKO in the 3rd round.

Winner: Jake Ellenberger, TKO – Round 3.

Daron Cruickshank vs. Chris Tickle – TKO, R3
