Here is another addition of MMA predictions featuring UFC 147: Silva vs. Franklin II,  which is being held on the 23 June 2012 at Estádio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The headlining bout is between two MMA legends who previously fought each other at UFC 99, the former UFC Middleweight champion Rich ‘Ace’ Franklin and former Pride Middleweight champion Wanderlei ‘The Axe Murderer’ Silva.

Hacran Dias(20-1-1) vs Yuri Alcantara(27–3)

A featherweight fight between two young Brazilian prospects, Hacran ‘Barnabe’ Dias and Yuri ‘Marajó’ Alcantara. Dias is making his UFC debut and is currently riding a 8 fight win streak and is undefeated fighting in Brazil. Alcantara is coming into this fight off of a decision victory over Michihiro Omigawa at UFC 142, where he nearly finished Omigawa multiple times during the fight. This is an important fight for both fighters and with a win could only be 2 fights away from a title shot if they win in impressive fashion. I can see Jose Aldo’s training partner Dias trying to take this fight to the ground while Yuri Alcantara using his well-rounded skills to avoid submissions and out point Hacran Dias on the feet earning a decision victory.

My Winner: Yuri Alcantara, Decision – Round 3.

Rony Mariano Bezerra(10–3) vs Godofredo de Oliveira(8–0)

A featherweight match up to crown the new Ultimate Fighter featherweight winner of the first ever TUF: Brazil season on Globo, between Rony ‘Jason’ Mariano Bezerra and Godofredo ‘Pepey’ de Oliveira. Rony is currently on a 5 fight win streak and has finished all of the fights since losing back in 2009 and is making his UFC debut. Godofredo is currently undefeated and has finished all of his fights by either TKO or submission, Godofredo turned pro in 2003 and is also making his UFC debut. With both fighters being BJJ black belts I can see the striking skills of the fighters being the deciding factor in this fight. Throughout TUF: Brazil Rony has shown strong stand up skills, fighting many talented strikers during the course of the tournament and winning against them on the feet. I can see Godofredo being the first one to shoot and try to control the fight on the mat looking for sweeps and ground and pound to soften up Rony for either a submission or a stoppage. With Rony being the more well-rounded fighter I think he will be able to survive submission attempts and win the fight on the feet to win a decision victory over a tough opponent in Godofredo.

My Winner: Rony Mariano Bezerra, Decision – Round 3.

Sergio Moraes(6-1) vs Cezar Ferreira(4–1)

A middleweight match up to crown the new Ultimate Fighter middleweight winner of the first ever TUF: Brazil season on Globo, between Cezar ‘Mutante’ Ferreira and Sergio ‘Serginho’ Moraes. Ferreira has won his last 3 of 4 professional fights and finished all his opponents in the TUF house to get to the finals of the tournament and picked up the knock-out of the season award with his knock-out of Thiago “Bodao” de Oliveira Perpetuo in the semis. Moraes is coming into this fight as an injury replacement for Daniel Sarafian, in the TUF house Moraes made it to the semi finals with submission victories over Delson Pé de Chumbo and Thiago Rela but failed to make the final originally as he lost to Daniel Sarafian via KO. Moraes is a highly touted Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor winning many World Championships in BJJ and will be looking to grab a hold of Ferreira and use his superior skills on the ground to secure a submission or work for a dominant position on the ground.  Ferreira will look to use his strength and defensive wrestling to stop this fight getting to the floor and use his powerful strikes to knock-out Moraes. I can see Ferreira’s experience of training at Xtreme Couture paying off and use his wrestling to keep the fight standing and use his huge advantage standing to win the fight by either KO or TKO.

My Winner: Cezar Ferreira, KO – Round 2.

Fabricio Werdum(15–5–1) vs Mike Russow(15–1 (1))

An intriguing match up between a heavyweight veteran, Ferbricio ‘Vai Cavalo’ Werdum and a rising star in the heavyweight division, Mike Russow.  Werdum is entering this fight after a dominating victory over TUF 10 winner and MMA veteran Roy Nelson at UFC 143, using impressive clinch work to deliver devastating knees to Nelson’s face. Russow is coming into this fight off of a decision victory over grappling stand out John-Olav Einemo at UFC on Fox: Evans vs. Davis. Russow will have to use effective boxing and wrestling experience to keep the fight standing and hope to threaten Werdum with his one punch knockout ability previously shown in his fight against Todd Duffe. Werdum has many different ways of winning this fight; he could use his ever improving striking to out work Russow and damage him from the outside or he could take this fight to the ground and use his high level BJJ skills to submit his opponent. With this being Russow’s first big name test I can see this being just too much for him. I can see Werdum pick apart Russow in the clinch and using his mauy thai to eventually drop the American, jumping on a dazed Russow and securing a submission for the win.

My Winner: Fabricio Werdum, Submission – Round 2.

Wanderlei Silva(34–11–1 (1)) vs Rich Franklin(28–6 (1))

A catch weight fight of 190 pounds and a rematch between two legends of the sport; Wanderlei ‘The Axe Murderer’ Silva and Rich ‘Ace’ Franklin. Silva is entering this fight after an entertaining comeback from behind performance against Cung Lee at UFC 139 which won Fight of the Night honors. Franklin is coming into this fight after a year of being inactive and in his last fight lost by decision to former UFC Light-heavyweight Forrest Griffin. With this being a five round fight I can see fatigue being a huge factor in this fight. With Franklin being inactive for over a year since his last fight, the temperature of Brazil and the traveling to fight on short notice to a whole country behind your opponent may take a toll even on the veteran fighter. Wanderlei will do what he always does and use his berserker style to rush a hurt or retreating opponent and use his killer instinct that made him famous in Pride to finish the fight. Franklin will try to keep a comfortable pace and keep from making this brawl and a wild fight and will work to make Silva tire in the later rounds and get a TKO victory in the 4th or 5th rounds. I can see this fight going to a similar way the first fight went and ultimately the same result with Franklin either winning by decision or a later TKO victory.

My Winner: Rich Franklin, TKO – Round 5.

Anistavio Medeiros vs Rodrigo Damm – SUB, R3

Delson Heleno vs Francisco Drinaldo – DEC, R3
